This Week in Reddit

Latest News, Reddit as a CMS, Emerging Software & Tools

Welcome to our 2nd(!) edition of ReddVisible.

See what you missed last week.

Alright, let’s jump right in to this week’s Reddit headlines….

This Week in Reddit

Here are some of the top stories about Reddit this week:

What if I told you Reddit was a CMS?

Part of the struggle many brands and creators are having is properly identifying WHERE Reddit sits on the pie chart.

Is it a social media network?

It it a forum?

Is it “UGC”?

Is it a search engine?

My experience of Reddit is that it is many things, but this nuance creates problems for brands. It doesn’t fit neatly in the pre-established buckets.

Tethering the strategy to the Reddit “play” is key.

Yes, you can just look for places to drop links to your brand.

You can ALSO use it as lead gen for newsletters or webinars.

You can ALSO built a community and incentivize user generated content.

You can ALSO validate product ideas and get feedback.

And, you can also just treat Reddit as a content management system, sharing your latest content, just like you would on a blog, but with near instant visibility (internally) and overnight indexing / exposure to Google search.

Reddit Software & Tools

Last week I brought up the issue of the dearth of Reddit tools and platforms for brands to leverage.

Since then a few readers dropped some notes on some, so I’m going to start tracking these below:

  • KWatch.io: An all source UGC social listening and monitoring platform, includes Reddit.

  • GummySearch: The first dedicated Reddit intel suite I’ve seen, great for monitoring communities, tracking keywords, and doing more advanced keyword research.

  • Karmalyzer: I’m an early user of this “Reddit health” app. Still early, but I love the concept of monitoring this.

I’m “all in” on Reddit right now as the fastest way to acquire users and build community.

As such, my course is a fluid, evolving project. I’m adding new modules weekly!

That’s it for this week!
