This Week in Reddit

Latest Reddit News, Reddit as Product Hunt, New Tech

Welcome to our 3rd(!) edition of ReddVisible.

See what you missed last week.

Alright, let’s jump right in to this week’s Reddit headlines….

This Week in Reddit

Here are some of the top stories about Reddit this week:

  • Reddit’s Unique Role: This LinkedIn post offers some interesting thoughts on how Reddit has avoided the typical “enshittification” of tech platforms. It’s actually been around for quite some time…

  • Reddit Getting Lower Visibility in AI Overviews: For now it appears Google has limited the instances of Reddit surfacing in AI summaries and overviews.

  • Reddit Newsletter Playbook: Reddit is becoming a good source for higher quality newsletter subs.

  • Reddit Traffic Play: Reddit continues to offer publishers a great alternative content distribution and traffic channel.

Is Reddit Better Than Product Hunt?

For many early stage tech and indie tech projects, getting “featured” on Product Hunt has long been a sought after objective to boost virtually unknown brands into relevance.

But Reddit may be a more effective ecosystem…

For example, check out the Reddit.com/r/saas group.

There’s actually hundreds of other niched down groups where you can post for feedback… which has the side benefit of bringing early stage awareness to your product or idea.

Even if you aren’t in a B2B vertical, requesting feedback isn’t generally seen as overtly promotional AND you do end up getting valuable insights in the process.

This also may be a great discovery ground for VCs, angel investors and tech funds to spot very early products with legs. Judging by the founder / moderator of r/saas, it seems to be a good intersection to hang out in.

Reddit Software & Tools

A few new Reddit tool additions this week:

  • KWatch.io: An all source UGC social listening and monitoring platform, includes Reddit.

  • GummySearch: The first dedicated Reddit intel suite I’ve seen, great for monitoring communities, tracking keywords, and doing more advanced keyword research.

  • Karmalyzer: I’m an early user of this “Reddit health” app. Still early, but I love the concept of monitoring this.

  • (NEW) RedditInsights.ai: Found this one, a good way to group and approximate topic interest from Reddit. A super scraper.

I’m “all in” on Reddit right now as the fastest way to acquire users and build community.

As such, my course is a fluid, evolving project. I’m adding new modules weekly!

That’s it for this week!
